Whether to work or not to work during inclement weather, that is the question for service companies as they send out their truck fleets to do business each day. There are schedules to keep and money to be made. There are new customers with all sorts of weather related issues.

Today is an unusually wet day in southern California, where we expect “May gray,” but not downpours as we have had the past 24 hours.

Ford has much too much eGo in their EcoBoost. What are they thinking in Detroit? Did they not know we were in serious economic trouble? Did they not consider the possibility of another run up on gas prices? Power? As a pest control fleet owner I could car less about power. We carry 500-1200 pounds in the bed, not 3,000 pounds. We are not racing them off-road. I don’t think I’d want my guys to even consider the possibility that they could power down the streets.

People who know me know that I’m an aware optimist. What does that mean? Well, I know the world sometimes really s**ks. Bad things happen to good people – a lot! The Yin Yang of Sales and Service

When weighing the benefits of having one sales team and one separate service team vs. a combined sales/service team I believe something may be missing in the equation.

When you have separate sales and service teams the assumption is that they are assigned to do what they do best. Certainly you can maximize the selling ability of sales people by not burdening them with service. Likewise, you would not want to burden service people with sales opportunities they cannot close.
