Deserting or Enabling the Team

For the past 18 months I stayed physically close to my pest control company. Each day I watched revenue, expenses, cash flow, teamwork, potential liabilities, examined opportunities. I made steady progress cleaning up the books. I changed both my bookkeeper and my accountant. Steadily, I cut my credit card debt.

I still have a long way to go, but Hearts Pest Management is functioning as a more finely tuned economic machine. (That doesn’t mean cutting workers and worker benefits. You don’t cut off the arm that feeds you).

“Um Is Not A Word” – Quote by Judge Judy

At home, we love watching TV star, Judge Judy. I enjoy listening to the competing points of view. Invariably, the winner understands the rules, has all the details handy and the loser is verbally stuck with an “Um” while scrambling to cover up the lack of supporting evidence.

Hearts Consulting Group, LLC Hot Blogging

Some of you may be wondering, why all the blogging? It’s unusual for a pest control company, although you see this more and more frequently as a means of communicating a company message. Pest Management Professional Magazine reported this trend toward blogging in the pest control industry. Accompanying all web media is an increased flow of “push media” email to convey the message. Genma Holmes, owner of Holmes Pest Control in Memphis, Tenn. prefers Twitter. You will need a Twitter account to see how she has developed a following with Twitter. (I haven’t figured out Twitter yet, but I’m trying). Of course, Facebook is the latest craze of everyone and every company that wants friends, with approximately one-half billion subscribers!

Scam USLBA Award for Pest Control Companies

Last year I noticed a prominent company in the Southern California market that had a PPC (Pay-per-Click) Google campaign going pretty hot with a title line of “Best Voted for Pest Control in San Diego.” I had wondered who in fact voted for them and they referred me to the USLBA. Today I saw another San Diego Pest Control company that states they were awarded “Best of Carlsbad.” What nonsense!
