Seeing The Green Light


This month in Pest Management Professional Magazine, you can find my latest contribution, entitled The Green Light. The debate between Right vs. Left, traditional pest controllers vs. environmentalists, global warming deniers vs. global warming watchdogs goes on and on. So in this article, I decided to step back for a minute and consider who are the people who can best bridge the gap of understanding, what professional group can objectively speak to both audiences. The answer: entomologists.

    It is really interesting to read articles such as this. Pest Control companies always get the bad wrap. Where do we draw the line? Do we learn to accept bugs so we save the planet? I’m not fully convinced GREEN works, well unless the service is completed daily. Help convince me of GREEN value.

    To paraphrase a fellow pest controller say, “How Green is the pest control when you have to take 3 extra trips to the property?”

    If 3 return trips were required, I’d agree. With the parameters I have put in place, the call back rate for Hearts green pest control customers at is no higher than for regular customers. I now have approximately 300 customers on our green program, in effect for 3-4 years. My green customers also stay on service LONGER!
